The Ukrainian linseed market is entering a phase of stable recovery. The crop is gradually regaining its position in the sowing structure, forming a new niche for small and medium-sized agricultural producers.

In Ukraine, linseed remains a niche crop. Production is subject to fluctuations influenced by market factors and weather. Since 2020, there has been a steady expansion of plantings. The growth is driven by demand from the EU—the main importer of flax. This is reported by UkrAgroConsult. In 2024/25 MY, there is a partial recovery of yield, which is still below the potential of the crop. The gross flax harvest in 2024/25 MY is estimated at over 66 thousand tons, which is the highest result since 2017/18 MY. The combination of expanded areas and improved yields has been decisive. Export remains a key driver of the market—over 80% of the Ukrainian flax crop in 2024/25 MY is sent abroad. During the years of war, this share has increased more than twofold. The main flax sales direction is the EU (Italy, Poland, Belgium—the top importers).
