The last Monday of November is the opening day for lobster fishing in Canadian Districts 33 and 34, locally known as Dumping Day. In 2024, the yield from these districts reached 24,814 tons, accounting for more than a quarter of Canada's total production. Based on past years, the opening day is more or less delayed due to weather conditions. The Canadian Meteorological Service predicts that there will be 25 knots of northwest wind on the 24th, potentially causing uncertainty in sea conditions, and District 34 may delay the opening. However, weather conditions are not the primary concern for Canadian fishermen; the current global market, mainly the Chinese market, is sluggish, leading to a decline in both prices and demand.
