China has initiated its largest agricultural species survey in the history of New China to understand the dynamic changes in agricultural germplasm resources, which are considered a national strategic resource. The survey, which includes crops, livestock, and aquatic resources, aims to ensure the independence of the seed industry in science and technology and the control of seed sources. The survey has already covered a majority of the resources, with over 20,000 new crop germplasm resources, 18 livestock and poultry genetic resources, and over 30,000 aquaculture germplasm resources discovered, as well as the rediscovery and protection of rare and endangered species.
