The Ministry of Agriculture in Russia has decreased the imported volume of dry demineralized whey for 2023 from 3,361 tons to 1,500 tons. This component is essential for the production of dry milk adapted formulas, also known as breast milk substitutes. Manufacturers and enterprises involved in the production and testing of these formulas can apply to the ministry for confirmation of the intended use of the imported whey by October 1, 2023. They will then be required to report to the ministry on the amount of baby food products made from the imported whey or the results of testing and equipment adjustment within three months.
