Russia's Ministry of Agriculture has proposed new regulations for the veterinary and sanitary examination of honey and beekeeping products intended for processing and sale. The regulations, which are up for discussion, require a request from the manufacturer and an examination by the state veterinary service within three hours. The products are analyzed for various parameters, and each batch is checked for toxic elements, mycotoxins, pesticides, and antibiotics at least annually. The rules do not apply to honey and bee products produced for personal consumption. The new rules are set to replace the 1995 regulations and will take effect on March 1, 2023.
