Russia's milk production rose by 0.5 million tons to 33.5 million tons in 2023, leading to an increase in the production of dairy products such as cream, cheeses, ice cream, and dry dairy products, according to Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev. The country produces 85% of its own milk, with the rest primarily imported from Belarus. The domestic market experienced a surge in dairy product consumption and exports in 2023. The Ministry of Agriculture aims to maintain affordability of dairy products and is prepared to support the industry with preferential loans and capital cost compensation.
