The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has published this Tuesday in the Official State Gazette (BOE) the order establishing the marketing standard for olive oil for the 2025/26 campaign, which aims to prevent possible market distortions in the event of overproduction, through a withdrawal of product. The indispensable condition to activate this mechanism would be that the level of initial stocks plus production estimates reach 120% of the average level of this sum of the previous six campaigns. Based on the estimates communicated by the autonomous communities at the beginning of October, it does not seem that the thresholds and conditions for the effective application of the measure will be reached, but the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has chosen to have the standard available in case its application is necessary.
