Morocco has positioned itself as a dominant force in the avocado market, particularly impacting European markets by offering high-quality, competitively priced fruits. The Moroccan avocado, preferred over the Turkish 'Fuerte', has seen strong demand across Europe, including in Georgia, where it is more affordable. Despite facing climate challenges, Morocco achieved a record export of approximately 58 thousand tons of avocados during the 2023-2024 agricultural season. This success is attributed to the remarkable yields of up to 30 tons per hectare achieved by Moroccan farmers, marking an unprecedented level of productivity in the Mediterranean region.
