MRF noted that the 2025 rainy season rice harvest has begun, with some early rice already hitting the market in certain regions. However, due to the current decline in demand for rice/paddy in some areas, leading to a drop in prices, rice farmers are becoming anxious, as their income may be severely affected.
Although international rice prices have previously declined, international market experts analyze that the possibility of prices falling further below the current level is non-existent. Therefore, the Myanmar Rice Federation requests that member export companies actively coordinate with local warehouse owners/merchants in regular procurement areas to fully engage in rice/paddy procurement work to stimulate market demand.
If there are any financial or operational difficulties encountered in the procurement process, transportation, rice milling, export, etc., they should be promptly reported to the association, and business records should be kept on file.
The association emphasizes that rice/paddy procurement records should be regularly sent to export@mif.com.mm every Friday, and all parties are required to actively cooperate and execute.
