The Office of Agricultural Economics in Chonburi has reported a significant increase in the production of unity fruit trees in the eastern provinces of Thailand, with an anticipated output of 1,139,393 tons for the first year, a 27% rise from the previous year. This increase is due to favorable weather conditions and an expansion in the cultivation area for durian, mangosteen, rambutan, and longkong trees. However, longkong production is expected to decline due to a price slump and export issues. The Fruit Board is focusing on data management, online trading, and quality control, particularly during the COVID-19 situation. The National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) will monitor the situation and work with the Fruit Board and other agencies to develop a fruit management plan.
