A new sustainable fishing agreement between the European Union and Mauritania has been reached, allowing up to 68 Spanish vessels to continue operating in Mauritanian waters. The five-year agreement, valued at 62 million euros for the first two years, maintains fishing opportunities and includes technical improvements. Categories for different types of vessels have been updated, and there will be an increase in shipowners' royalties. The agreement will be provisionally applied from November 15, with ratification expected in the coming months.
