The Chungbuk Province is expanding its efforts to create honeybee habitat zones and revitalize the beekeeping industry in response to threats posed by climate change. The honeybee habitat zone creation project involves planting nectar-producing trees such as acacia, elderberry, and chestnut trees, and has been underway since 2023. Next year, the project will be expanded. So far, the Chungbuk Province has been creating honeybee habitat zones through the Regional Specialized Afforestation Project, a national budget-supported initiative by the Korea Forest Service. However, due to the increasing demand for nectar-producing trees, the scale of the project will be increased to 50 hectares next year, and 1 billion won has been secured from the lottery fund to meet this need. The province is promoting the beekeeping industry and the resource development of eco-tourism, aiming for a triple benefit.
