In 2024, Peru's agricultural exports have experienced a notable increase compared to the previous year, with a focus on traditional products like grapes, blueberries, and avocados, as well as emerging exports such as cocoa beans, quinoa, and onions. This growth is evident in the significant surge in cocoa bean exports to Malaysia, which saw a 152% increase in the first four months of 2024, and the steady rise in quinoa exports to the United States. Fresh onion exports also increased by 30.4% during the same period, with the majority coming from the Ica region. The success of these exports is credited to the dynamic nature of the agricultural sector, the improvement in logistics, and the strategic marketing of key products. This trend underscores the potential for further growth and the importance of enhancing the competitiveness of Peru's agriculture sector to capitalize on the demand in international markets.
