East Kazakhstan is focusing on the development of its agricultural sector, with a successful harvest leading to an increase in exports and the processing of more products. The region is a major producer of sunflower oil and has signed export agreements worth over $23 million with China and Uzbekistan. The implementation of modern agricultural technologies and the establishment of a domestic drip irrigation equipment production project are set to boost agricultural efficiency and growth in the region. The construction of an extraction plant in Ust-Kamen is also expected to increase the processing and export of vegetable oil.
