The Polish beef sector has shown significant growth potential, with the cattle population capable of increasing by 50-70%. Past declines in beef consumption were due to low demand, BSE concerns, and uneven quality. However, improvements in beef quality, safety, and consumer awareness of its health benefits have led to a tripling of beef consumption in Poland over the last decade. The QMP quality system has been crucial in this growth, also aiding in the shift from exporting live animals to ready-made cuts, enhancing economic outcomes. Ripening beef has further increased profitability by fetching better prices for matured cuts without raising the cost of basic cuts.
