Core Insight: According to data from the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), from January to September 2025, Vietnam's export of basa fish to Japan reached 34 million USD, a year-on-year increase of 14%, securing the third position in Japan's white meat fish market, following the United States and Russia. With the release of tariff preferences under the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the shift in Japanese consumers' consumption concepts, Vietnamese basa fish is rising from being a "low-priced fish" to a preferred category with "stable supply and controllable quality."
