In May 2024, Norway experienced an 8% increase in salmon exports, amounting to NOK 724 million, with the sales volume rising by 2%. Poland, Denmark, and Spain emerged as the largest markets. The price of fresh salmon fillets also hit a record high of NOK 164 per kg, a increase of NOK 5 from April 2023. The export of fresh fillets surged by 35% to 13,223 tons, and frozen fillets by 21% to 5,836 tons, notably increasing the share of fillets in salmon exports from 25% to 30%. Spain saw the most significant increase in export value, rising by NOK 163 million, or 25%, compared to the previous year, totaling 6,833 tonnes and valued at over NOK 2.2 billion.
