In Van's Erciş district, the winter potato harvest has begun.
The harvest season continues for potatoes, one of the most consumed vegetables and a staple on winter tables. While the harvest in eastern regions starts in October and continues until November, the potato harvest has also begun in Erciş district, where potatoes are grown over a large area. In Akçayuva Village, approximately 25 kilometers from the district center, feverish efforts have started to collect the winter potatoes. Farmers are making intense efforts to pick the potatoes from the soil before the weather gets cold and deliver them to consumers.
Geylani İşler, who grows potatoes, said, "I am from Ahlat and currently, we produce potatoes over an area of approximately 50 acres in Erciş. We expect nearly 250 tons of produce. We send the products to provinces such as Van and its surroundings, as well as Erzurum and Diyarbakır."
