Potato production in Russia reached a 30-year high at 8.6 million tons by the end of 2023, with the Bryansk, Tula, Moscow, Astrakhan, and Nizhny Novgorod regions reporting the highest yields. The increase in yield was attributed to the federal project "Development of Vegetable and Potato Growing," which received a funding increase to 4.6 billion rubles in 2023. The Russian government has also been instructed to increase the country's self-sufficiency in milk, fruits, and table salt.
