In February 2024, the European Union witnessed a notable increase in meat prices, with an overall rise of 3.3% compared to the previous year. Pork prices led the surge, increasing by 5.7%, despite the sector experiencing a significant inflation peak of 17.3% in February 2023. In contrast, poultry prices saw a decrease of 1.6%. Over the past three years, the price trends for beef, veal, lamb, and goat meat have been relatively stable, with increases staying below 15%, whereas poultry and pork prices have been more volatile. The highest price hikes were reported in Bulgaria, Romania, and Croatia, while Czechia, Finland, and Denmark saw declines in meat prices.
