Record high prices of rapeseed are anticipated due to increased demand for cooking oil, margarine, and biofuels, caused by China's purchase of Ukrainian rapeseed and the scarcity of Canadian stocks. The scarcity is worsened by the smallest crop in the past five years and extreme heat damaging the crop. This situation is further aggravated by the high demand for oilseeds, a crucial raw material for biodiesel production, due to rising oil prices. In Hungary, rapeseed production has seen a decrease of 18% this year, amounting to 700 thousand tons.
