The price of sunflower reached a new 20-month high in Bulgaria

With the end of the sunflower harvest in Bulgaria, the supply situation is becoming clearer and following what is happening in other Black Sea countries, prices are shooting up, especially in recent days. Since July 8, the sunflower of DAP Varna/Burgas has added over 160 BGN per ton, and today the buyers calmly offer 940-45 BGN/t delivered to Varna. Current price levels are the highest since early March 2023. Domestic prices are also up, with peelers continuing to be the most generous. Unlike oilseeds, they need seeds of a certain size, and this year's poor crop of small seeds makes their task even more difficult. There are several reasons for the increase in price, the main one being the increase in the price of crude sunflower oil on world exchanges.
