The production of Bulgarian peanuts has decreased 20 times, and if some time ago they were grown on 200,000 decares, now only 10,000 decares are occupied with this crop. In the 80s of the twentieth century, 65% of the areas with peanuts in Europe were in Bulgaria. And the production reached 80% of the European level, it became clear during the Open Day of the Garden Peanut at the Institute of Plant and Genetic Resources (IRGR) "Konstantin Malkov" - Sadovo. The village is the only place in Europe where seed production and selection of peanuts is carried out. Our country is the northern border for growing culture, but it grows well in our country. In the distant 1896 the peanut arrived in Bulgaria and was sown in the Plovdiv village of Kurtovo Konare on an area of 8 decares.
