Durbert County in China has initiated the cultivation of river crabs in rice fields, introducing 'big-eyed flesh' crab seedlings from Panjin, Liaoning Province. This venture, inspired by overseas farming models, is part of the county's strategy to enhance agricultural efficiency and quality, especially in Jiangwan Township. The method offers advantages such as lower cost, higher adaptability, and survival rate compared to traditional crab farming. The county aims to expand this 10,000 mu (about 2,471 acres) pilot project, expecting an income increase of 8 million yuan this year, as it seeks to establish a national demonstration zone for rice and crab comprehensive breeding. This initiative is aligned with the county's efforts to bolster the aquatic industry, creating a new income source for farmers.
