Bulgaria pays around 10% less for raw cow's milk than the average price in the European Union, according to EU data. The price has been 7-8 to 20 percent lower than the EU average in the last three years. However, despite the lower purchase price, the retail price of dairy products in Bulgaria has seen a significant increase. The production of fresh packaged milk, cow's milk cheese, and cream decreased in 2022, while there was growth in the production of drinking cow's milk with additives and butter. The main importers of Bulgarian dairy products are Germany and Poland.
