[Agricultural Fisheries and Livestock News=Reporter Hong Jeong-min] The Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (hereinafter referred to as the Agency) held the '2025 Animal Pharmaceutical Research Symposium' on the 29th to share technologies and methods to prevent cross-contamination that may occur during the manufacturing stages of animal pharmaceuticals. According to the Agency, cross-contamination is a phenomenon where the active ingredients, excipients, or microorganisms of a specific pharmaceutical product unintentionally transfer into the manufacturing process of another product due to residues in the manufacturing equipment, inadequate cleaning processes, or contact with raw materials, thereby affecting the quality of the manufactured product. The Agency aims to prevent cross-contamination through the advancement of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards for the production and quality control of animal pharmaceuticals.
