[Korea Farmers' News Reporter Son Min-jeong] The government has launched a comprehensive policy initiative to expand the ratio of eco-friendly certification area from the current 4.5% to 9% by 2030. To increase the number of producers, the policy exempts certification revocation if pesticides are detected above the standard unintentionally and raises the unit price of direct payments for upland and fruit crops, which had been frozen for eight years. To increase consumer uptake, the policy expands public sector procurement and establishes dedicated corners for eco-friendly agricultural products in the private sector. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced the '6th Five-Year Plan for the Promotion of Eco-Friendly Agriculture (2026-2030)' with these contents as its core on the 29th. This plan aims to expand the ratio of organic certification from approximately 2.5% of the total farmland area as of 2024 to 5% by 2030 and the ratio of pesticide-free certification from approximately 2% as of 2024 to 4% by 2030.
