The Region of Murcia in Spain is leading in the production and export of broccoli, with over 254,000 tons in 2023. The broccoli export value for the year surpassed 436 million euros, marking a 23% increase from the previous year and nearly five times more than Valencia, the second leading province. The broccoli cultivation area has grown by 11% to 13,700 hectares, leading to a 27% increase in exported tons in January and February 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. The United Kingdom is the primary consumer of Spanish broccoli, with a consumption of up to 6 kilos per person per year, and is also the region's main export market, receiving 28% of the total.
