Chile has seen a significant increase in wine exports to Brazil, reaching 5.17 million cases in August 2022, making it the second-largest market in value and the first in volume. This growth is due to the pandemic's impact on China, a former leader in Chilean wine imports, causing a decrease in both market entry and logistical issues. Despite economic challenges, Brazil's per capita wine consumption has risen, with red wines being the most popular. However, there is a growing demand for premium wines, and efforts are being made to increase the average price of Chilean wines in the market. Currently, imports and supermarkets are the main purchasers, with a strong concentration in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. The future of Chile's wine export dominance in Brazil will depend on the recovery of the Chinese market from the pandemic.
