Kazakhstan experienced a significant decrease in the harvest of all oilseeds, including safflower, in 2023. The gross harvest of safflower dropped by 45% to 242.2 thousand tons, with the yield also decreasing from 7.1 c/ha in 2022 to 6.2 c/ha in 2023. The harvested area of safflower was reduced to 389.8 thousand hectares, down from 633.4 thousand hectares in 2022. This decline was largely due to unfavorable weather conditions, which led to crop losses on approximately 65 thousand hectares.
