From September 1, 2023, to April 15, 2024, Turkey's anchovy exports soared to $9.47 million, marking a 33% increase from the previous season, despite facing lower yields due to adverse climatic conditions. The country managed to double its export volume to 2,745 tons, reaching 21 countries, with Belgium, France, and Germany as the leading importers, and expanding into new markets like Greece and Dubai. This significant growth is attributed to the strategic processing of anchovies into high-value products, as highlighted by the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, showcasing the importance of value addition in the seafood industry, especially in light of fluctuating yields.
