Turkey: The season ended with a 33 percent increase in anchovy exports

According to the compilation of data from the Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association, anchovies were exported from Turkey to 21 countries during the hunting season, which started on September 1, 2023 and ended on April 15, 2024. The income from anchovy exports, which was recorded as 7 million 135 thousand 114 dollars between September 1, 2022 and April 15, 2023, increased by 33 percent in the same period of this season, reaching 9 million 477 thousand 178 dollars. The export amount increased by 101 percent to 2 thousand 745 tons. Although the yield was below expectations due to climatic factors, the export season closed with an increase and the highest demand for anchovy came from Belgium, France and Germany. This season, anchovies worth 2 million 656 thousand 825 dollars were sent to Belgium, 2 million 500 thousand 177 dollars to France and 1 million 206 thousand 710 dollars to the USA.
