The National Seed Alliance is promoting the export of Russian seed material, suggesting the addition of a new section to the Federal Register of Breeding Achievements to indicate varieties and hybrids intended for export. The Alliance has submitted this proposal to the Ministry of Agriculture and plans to discuss it at the IX All-Russian Forum of Breeders and Seed Growers. The Alliance believes this could solve the problem of agricultural crop overproduction. Despite the high demand for Russian seeds abroad, there are barriers to export, including high global market competition and the need for varieties and hybrids that cannot be used in Russia's industrial production.
