Thailand has experienced a significant increase in canned tuna exports to the Middle East, with a 20.7% rise to 65.98 billion baht (US$1.96 billion) from January to September 2024, as reported by the Thai Ministry of Commerce. This growth is attributed to both conflict-induced demand and market expansion in countries like Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, the demand for Bangkok tuna has surged, reaching a high of US$1,530-1,540 per tonne, due to increased global demand for canned goods and a decrease in catches in the Asia-Pacific region, signaling a tight supply situation.
