The 2025 anchovy and white anchovy fishing season in the southern Peruvian sea has been announced by the Ministry of Production, with the fishing set to begin on a date yet to be determined and end no later than June 30, or when the catch limit of 251,000 tons is reached. The fishing will take place between 16 degrees south latitude and the southern limit of the Peruvian sea, with only registered and authorized vessels allowed to participate. The Peruvian Sea Institute will monitor the sea conditions and the fishing resource, and the fishing limit may be modified based on their recommendations. Any vessel that exceeds the assigned fishing limit will face legal and administrative sanctions, and if the fleet reaches the total limit before the established maximum date, the season will be terminated to protect the marine ecosystem.
