The table olive sector has called on the Government this Monday to increase pressure on the United States to eliminate its additional tariff on this Spanish product and, in parallel, negotiate with other importing countries to compete on better terms. The Association of Table Olive Exporters and Industrialists (Asemesa) has held a meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) with the Secretary General of Agrarian Resources and Food Security, Ana Rodríguez, and the Secretary of State for Trade, Amparo López. In the meeting, the recent ruling in the World Trade Organization (WTO) that has granted the European Union (EU) the right to adopt countermeasures against the US for $13.64 million per year for its compensatory measures for subsidies on Spanish table olives was analyzed.
