Despite a drop in production, Spain remained the top seller of watermelons in the European Union (EU) in 2023, with sales reaching 564.59 million kg, valued at 426.26 million euros. This accounted for 31.23% of all watermelons sold in the EU, which saw a total of 1,807.77 million kg of watermelons bought, marking a 4.74% increase from 2019. The leading countries for watermelon sales were Spain, Italy, Morocco, and Greece. The value of Spanish watermelon sales hit a record high due to an increase in price per kilo.
