Between January and April 2024, Peruvian quinoa exports saw a significant increase of 43.6%, totaling US$35,365,000, as reported by the Association of Exporters (ADEX). This growth places quinoa as the leading Andean grain export, surpassing corn, chia, kiwicha, and other grains in FOB amount. The United States emerged as the primary importer, showing a 65.5% increase in quinoa demand from Peru, followed by Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. ADEX emphasizes the importance of strategic actions to further strengthen the quinoa export chain, such as market identification and traceability updates. The upcoming IV International Andean Grains Convention is set to address various aspects of the industry, with several leading companies serving as quinoa exporters.
