Europe has fallen to the second place as Norway's largest seafood export market, with the US now leading due to a 59% increase in salmon purchases in January. The US market imported NOK 1.15 billion ($111.2 million) worth of Norwegian seafood in January, marking a 41% year-on-year increase and the fastest growing market. Despite a 4% increase in imports, the value of other fish sold to the US market has declined, but Norwegian salmon exports to the US have increased significantly. The US is now the largest market for Norwegian salmon, with high prices in overseas markets and the US dollar strengthening against the euro contributing to the trend.
