Vietnam has experienced a significant surge in scallop export revenue, with a 206% increase to over $31 million in the first 10 months of the year. The United States is the primary market, followed by Denmark and Japan. Vietnamese scallop exports to the US have increased 131 times, and to Japan, by 12%. This growth is attributed to Japanese companies setting up shop in Vietnam to process scallops for export to the US and ASEAN countries. Since the beginning of the year, Japanese firms have started piloting the processing of Hokkaido scallops in Vietnam.
