U.S. Department of Agriculture experts have worsened their forecast for sunflower harvest and processing product production in Ukraine for the 2025-2026 agricultural season starting September 1, according to the agency's official July report. The sunflower harvest estimate has been reduced by 400,000 tons compared to the June projection, down to 14 million tons. The export forecast for the oilseed crop, however, remains at 250,000 tons. Meanwhile, according to analysts from the electronic publication APK-Inform, sunflower processing in Ukraine in June decreased by 11% compared to May, to around 1 million tons, although this is a relatively good result for the current period of the year. From September 2024 to June, around 10.5-10.6 million tons of the oilseed crop have been processed in Ukraine, which is 21% below the result from the same period of the previous season and the second weakest result since the 2016-2017 season after the 2021-2022 season.
