Vietnam's seafood exports in July surged by 14% year-on-year to over 885 million USD, the highest since the beginning of the year, with key products like shrimp and pangasius experiencing significant growth in major markets such as the US, China, and Hong Kong. As of the end of July, the total seafood export revenue stood at 5.28 billion USD, with the shrimp industry contributing nearly 2 billion USD and pangasius about 1.09 billion USD. However, the industry faces challenges in raw material procurement due to new regulations, leading to a slowdown in tuna exports and a decrease in other marine fish exports in the first seven months of the year. The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) is seeking to amend decree 37 to align it with international practices and is urging compliance with IUU regulations and decree 37. The association predicts that seafood exports could reach nearly 10 billion USD this year, given the recovery of major markets.
