President Donald Trump, along with Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins, Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, and key members of Congress, announced a new $12 billion package in the form of one-time payments for American farmers. The funds are aimed at producers who are still experiencing negative consequences from temporary trade disruptions, which have led to increased production costs and market losses in recent years, reports the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The aid will act as a transitional tool until the new measures of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) come into effect, which from 2026 are expected to increase reference prices by 10–21% for major crops such as soybeans, corn, and wheat.
