Norway is experiencing potato shortages due to adverse weather conditions and low potato stocks from last year's harvest, leading to empty shelves in stores. To address this issue, the Norwegian authorities are temporarily abolishing customs duties on imported potatoes to fill the market gap and provide consumer access. This measure is expected to be implemented next week and will be in effect until July 15 for old potatoes from foreign warehouses. A higher duty will be introduced for imported new potatoes in June and September. The country is also dealing with a scarcity of vegetables, particularly onions, and plans to abolish customs duties on imported onions as well.
