Argentina: There will be 19,700 million tons of cane for the super harvest in 2024

In its latest technical report on the “Estimation of harvestable area and sugarcane production for the 2024 harvest” in Tucumán, the Obispo Colombres Agroindustrial Experimental Station (Eeaoc) reveals that the availability of raw materials for the 14 mills in operation will go from the 15 million tons of last year to 20,450 million tons for the current campaign. This abundance of cane would be reflected in a “super milling” to reach a historical record production of 1,970 million tons of “sugar equivalent.” It should be remembered that the official records show that in 2014, 16,044 million tons of cane were ground and that with a factory yield of 9,322%, 1,496 million tons of sugar and 258 million liters of alcohol were obtained.
