There will be no new EU legislation on carcass classification in the sheep and goat meat sector

At the beginning of June, the European Commission published a report on the sales names and classification of carcasses in the sheep and goat meat sector. It was obliged to do so before June 30 under the regulation of the Common Organization of Markets (CMO) of the CAP. The objective of the report was to examine the current rules regarding carcass classification and sales designation in these sectors and to assess whether or not additional regulation in this regard was necessary. In general, Brussels concludes that it is not necessary to propose new legislation in these sectors. In particular, the authors state that the grading of sheep carcasses should remain voluntary so as not to unjustifiably increase costs and burdens.
