A agricultural authority in Paraguay, Rodríguez, has reported a decrease in pest attacks on crops in the Alto Paraguay area, reducing the attack by 15% to 20%. This area, which sees most of the lobster sightings, has had 3,500 hectares sprayed to control the pest. The number of adult lobsters reported has decreased, along with any reports of nymphs. The authority is taking steps to prevent swarms, given the pest's flight capacity of 150 km a day. An alert for the presence of lobsters in the Chaco region led to a phytosanitary emergency being declared on March 5.
