(Agraria.pe) This week, 20 tons of black sesame produced by farming families from Ucayali entered the export chain to the Asian market, thanks to a trade agreement orchestrated by the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri), through Agromercado. The cultivation of black sesame—with a short cycle, simple agronomic management, and yields between 600 and 1,000 kilos per hectare—is positioning itself as a profitable alternative for Family Agriculture, especially in a region where the domestic market is still small, while Asia is consolidating as a strategic destination for this product. This advancement represents a significant leap compared to the 2024 campaign, which had 50 producers. For 2025, more than 130 farmers from 18 hamlets and populated centers in the districts of Manantay, Yarinacocha, Masisea, Callería, Nueva Requena, Curimaná, and Tahuanía are participating.
