Fishermen in the Loreto-Santa Rosalía corridor of Baja California Sur, Mexico, are expecting the arrival of squid in March, due to favorable water conditions and the sardine population. This anticipation is supported by statistical cycles and the increasing demand for squid in the domestic market, which has replaced octopus in many dishes. However, the community still faces challenges, such as reduced fishing days due to bad weather, leading to a decrease in supply and an increase in fish prices.
