The plenary session of the International Olive Council (IOC), held in Córdoba on the occasion of World Olive Day, has endorsed the Córdoba Declaration. This is a document promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the IOC that sets out the common principles and priorities in terms of sustainability, health, trade, and international cooperation. Thirty countries and international organizations have supported this Declaration which, according to the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, "is a legacy of the future to promote the sustainability of the olive grove and the strengthening of international relations." Planas has valued the role of the International Olive Council as a fundamental body for the future of the sector. Its importance, according to the minister, lies in bringing together all the producing countries with a common goal: to work together to guarantee the quality of olive oils and to facilitate international trade.
